What our families say about us...

"We had a wonderful experience with the Lucina Birthing Centre. It offered an option to have the safest birth possible in the most natural environment available to us. As we live outside of Edmonton, and a fair distance from our midwife, it became essential to plan our birth in Edmonton. The Lucina Birthing Centre offered a beautiful, home-‐like environment free of the pressures of the hospital. We were able to have the birth we planned under the expert care of our midwives, without feeling exposed to the interventions and complications of a hospital.

Having such a safe, and home-‐like place available in Edmonton gives confidence and peace of mind to those of us seeking a natural birth but live outside of Edmonton. I'd recommend the Lucina Birthing Center to all women looking for an alternative to a hospital environment and a beautiful, safe place in which to welcome their child!

I had a wonderful experience at the birth centre. I have told everyone that I speak to about my baby's birth that it is a labouring woman's dream. I loved the shower and the birth in the tub. I also loved sleeping with my baby and husband in the large bed after the birth. I felt well taken care of throughout my pregnancy, birth and in the postnatal period.

During the birth I felt like Maureen provided amazing guidance but also let me follow my own instincts. I loved the breakfast afterwards. It provided the energy I needed to get back on my feet. Maureen and Kerstin were wonderfully nurturing throughout my care and listened intently to all my questions and concerns. When I spoke to them they took the time to really listen and we talked about it in more depth. I really appreciated that.

I had a wonderful experience at Lucina Centre. I always felt very comfortable and welcome there. I really appreciated that, from my first visit to my delivery, I never felt like I was in a hospital and I never felt pressured to do anything I was uncomfortable with.

I love the beautiful birthing rooms, especially the small touches like curtains and pictures on the walls. And the breakfast was great! Here is the story of our son Samuel's birth!
